I’ve made so many of these recipes that I couldn’t even think about picking a favorite. Before Jack Johns, I’d never tried Korean cuisine. Now it’s a part of my everyday life. If you’re tired of the same old hamburgers and spaghetti and grilled chicken breasts, pick up this book and prepare to have your culinary mind blown. I’d recommend starting with the Fire Chicken.

Jack Johnson did an amazing work here, trying to adapt Korean cooking to the American demands. I love trying new foods and I admit that I know very little about Korean cuisine but I love spicy creative dishes so it was really easy to get in the mood of this cookbook. The recipes are easy to follow and the final results look delicious once you prepare them and get on the table. Most of the recipes are nice and short, they call for very few ingredients and need little time to be prepared. The table of contents is divided into different sections so you should get through all of them to realize the greatness of this cookbook.

I really miss living in Korea, and this cookbook offers really simple and easy-to-follow recipes. It’s a nice way to fix loads of my favorite dishes ever. It can be a little bit hard to follow these recipes if you don't have specific ingredients for them, so get ready to move closer to the Korean market (joke) or simply make your weekend grocery shopping a little bit longer by visiting markets you've never visited before. Some dishes may require use of special equipment, but there are different ways around if you're interested in the meal itself.

Some people say, it's too authentic. I really can't tell what's so authentic or hard to reproduce in roasted branzino, or fried cheese, or tomato soup. I love these easy and homely recipes - they remind me of timen whe I've been living not far from the Korean restaurant, and the smells of it were spreading around the neighbourhood. Simple and affordable cooking, suitable for American tastes.

I'm not that big of a fan, since Koren cooking will always be some kind of mistery to me but I think this is a nice American adaptation of what could have been Korean cooking at home. Recipes are easy to understand. Be prepared to the fact that some of the ingredients can be found exclusively on the Korean markets.

This book is the best korean cookbook i have ever found. I am half korean and grew up on korean dishes, but my mom could never translate measurement amounts other than by showing me how much she scoops by hand. This author shares stories that are similar that i could relate to. I am now better able to mimic my mom's dishes.

then remove the meat from the liquid and strain the beef broth. pour the beef broth into the saucepan back and add ground black pepper. paprika, chili pepper, soy sauce, and cream.

It seems a little too authentic for American tastes. I looked through the book to find something to make but was put off by the ingredients. Too many odd seafood items, too many "authentic" seasonings. I want one that is tamed down for the American palate.
