Other Mario coloring books on Amazon were so poorly reviewed, I took a chance on this one. It's a good coloring book and I doubt a kid would notice or care that this product is not endorsed by Nintendo and a couple of the pages look a tad blurry. Mario is in like 90% percent of the book and only a few other characters are featured. If your kid loves Mario, this coloring book will do just fine!

I like this coloring book because it has white smooth paper used - unlike a lot of coloring books with off-white/grainier paper. It allows the colors to show nicer and is better for markers. One some of the coloring pages, the images are a little blurry which makes it seem like it wasn't really professionally put together. Still a fun activity if you or your child like Mario and friends.

Very clear, bold pages..1 sided so no worry about marker bleeding through...included all the character...My 6 year old was so happy to have a Mario coloring book but the quality was better than your average grocery store coloring book which made him feel like it was more of a big boy book..& the detail was nice, but not to much for a little one..Definatly a purchase well made..

This was a great coloring book. The pages were durable and the images were pleasing and sized correctly. It had lots of variety in characters and scenes. I would buy it again.

I was ecstatic to come across this workbook as I just started homeschooling my 5 yr old last year and I have two other boys ages 3,2. They are all OBSESSED with Star Wars. The only negative I will say is that the illustrations aren't amazing (they DO NOT look anything like the chewbacca pictured on the front! far from it actually) but if your kids are very familiar with Star Wars they shouldn't have a problem recognizing each character. Being able to read, of course, helps.The first half of the workbook focuses on number recognition... 1-20. Writing the number and a fun activity to go with it. Simple instructions that my 5 yr old (who just started reading on his own a few months ago) can understand and apply.Then here are some pages with groups of objects and practicing counting applying 'more or less.'Finally, there are numerous pages on addition and subtraction. Although the format is the same _+_=_ with quantities pictured above (child counts objects and writes number inside blank box) the characters and objects to be counted changes on every page. And, again, they are all in full color!!Overall, I think this is a very basic (especially for kindergarten) but very fun workbook!! My 5 yr old loves it and I'm happy that he looks forward to 'school time'

This whole line is a godsend. We homeschool our 6yo. All I have to do is lay out his work for the day and most days he will have it done before I'm even awake - he knows when it's done we can do fun science projects or go out and about. He is such an eager learner and a fan of this franchise that it isn't "homework." We have had parts of the series after we purchased them at a comic con a week after they were released. He can blow through the majority of common core standards for 1st grade and is really pushing through 2nd grade. It's made my life easier. We even donated some to a teacher friends classroom and she hasn't stopped raving about them.Only complaint I wish there were more, more topics more exercises, more everything.I would recommend if you are homeschooling or just practicing with your little learner make a digital copy of the blank page because my guy has wanted to do them multiple times if he didn't get everything perfect.

I used the full set of three workbooks this summer with my son so he could review everything he learned in Kindergarten. He really likes the Star Wars theme and will happily do his pages everyday in this one even though he doesn't like to do workbooks. Of course he got to earn time on the PlayStation by doing his pages, so that probably helped too. Each number had a two page spread to work on handwriting and then an activity that requires finding objects with that particular number on them out of all the objects. After going through 0-20, the book moved on to simple addition and subtraction, mostly on numbers up to 5. The last pages were adding up to 10 and then filling in the blanks on a partially filled chart from 1-100. We used the preschool books last year and we will most likely use the 1st grade books to review next summer as well.

My son was struggling to transition into his Kindergarten math curriculum, and math time was resulting in tears every day. I found this Star Wars math on Amazon, and he was so excited when he received it. It was a very short book, and a little easy- but I feel it gave him the confidence he needed to move on. He loved doing math every day, and we were both sad to finish the book!

This book is much thinner than other workbooks (like the brainquest ones). However, there is a good variety of activities- there are pages for learning to write numbers, some number games, coloring and circling different numbers, etc. There is some simple addition at the end of the book, but I feel like it is not presented in a structured way, just random addition of numbers. I like the Kumon books better for simple repetition to learn addition (like learning to add 1 or 2 to different numbers). BUT, my pre-K aged son is a HUGE star wars fan, and he absolutely loves this book and begs to do more "homework" every day. So that definitely makes up for most of the shortcomings.

Maybe I was expecting more advance math for a kinder kid, but I feel some of the problems are too redundant. It's a lot of counting and writing, which is good. But the whole "trace all the 18's" is not useful in my opinion. The first 20 pages is writing numbers and tracing patterns.

My Pre-K age child loves this workbook. She’s excited to start working in it every night and proudly announces that she loves to learn things. It has good writing practice for numbers and good number recognition activities (trace the path with a certain number, circle / color characters with a certain number, dot-to-dot, etc.) as well. She also loves discussing the Star Wars characters and vehicles with her dad along the way.

This book was great!! I can't vouch for how this level compares to Kindergarten math (my son is going into Kindergarten in the fall) but my 5-year-old loved the Star Wars theme and would willingly do several pages at a time (paired with receiving rewarding bites of his snack after every page). He doesn't want to do his other workbooks. I loved teaching him the math skills in the last half of the book. Very well done!

This book is life changing. It is challenging and right on.

Puar’s objective is to reimagine an identity politics so that the exclusions of queer people and people of color can be explored alongside the violent exclusions created by war. Accordingly, she closes with an interpretation of suicide bombers as “body-weapons” who defy categoriza- tion. And although she acknowledges her conceptual turn from representational politics to affect and assemblage, her analysis of complicity is an incisive analysis of representation and discursive practice, and yet this approach falls away in the final chapters. Throughout the book, discussions of the velocities, movements, and complex emotional terrains evoked by affect seemed to move her attention away from a rich empirical account. Yet the first half of the book demonstrates how powerful this approach can be when performed with the criti- cal acumen Puar so clearly demonstrates. For example, she alludes to Weizman’s (2006) work that shows how the Israeli Defense Forces appropriated Deleuze and Guattari’s theories, yet refrains from interrogating the possible complicities between poststructuralist concep- tualizations of assemblage, rhizome, and affect as well as the rise of “network thinking” and “layered security” in security and military practice. Even though the unre- solved tension between the analytic approaches might leave some to prefer a more certain conclusion, Puar’s book is evidence of her desire to move somewhere with her analysis. It is her ability to traverse the theoretical terrains between theories of affect and nonrepresentation as well as discourse and identity that exemplifies how these seemingly opposed poststructuralisms do, in fact, enrich each other and make Terrorist Assemblages a critically important work.

I feel lucky to have come across this text. With well researched efforts and powerful grace, Puar dismantles queer identity and its subsequent relationship to discrimination since 9/11 - bringing into constant perspective what the queer community has both achieved but also not yet largely realized. I won't be surprised if this becomes an essential queer - or for that matter foreign affair - text of the decade. Puar's explanations are like looking into a prism - making the text feel that much more ahead of its time.

Jasbir K. Puar offers an unusually inspired diagnosis of today's war machines and the politics of knowledge-making in an era of counter/terror. "Terrorist Assemblages: Homonationalism in Queer Times" is a smart and deeply disturbing account of recent realignments of race, gender, sexuality, nation, class and ethnicity in the context of contemporary forces of counterterrorism, nationalism and securitization. Wielding an expansive methodological and theoretical toolkit, Puar puts her sharp analytic to excellent use, offering timely criticisms on a vast range of key concepts within contemporary transnational cultural studies. With a lyrical prose that is at times hauntingly poetic, if mildly "Deleuze-ional," Puar remains consistently astute in her political and cultural commentaries. This book is a great book to read with the family. As one of Dr. Shipman's first students, reading the books brings back such happy memories from kindergarten. I cant wait to get a hard copy of the book :)

What a delightful story first time author Terance Shipman has written. Children will delight in hearing the joys of what happened during the December holidays. I imagined myself in each scene. It was exciting to read what fun Team Shipman had during the month of December. A great read anytime, but especially for the holidays in Mr. Shipman's class. Readers will certainly be anxious to find out what happens next as they read each page. The story was well written!

This a great book. This is very easy t understand and a great story to follow. I know that this will be an exciting story for any child to ready. Especially around the holidays. This book also showcases a lot of diversity, not only in the illustrations of the children, but in the content as well.

The text was a bit long for her too to keep her attention.I loved the teacher’s enthusiasm, his attention and dedications for every detail.Our advance read kindle edition (a goodreads giveaway win) had paragraphs out of order, a sentence unfinished and the pictures were almost never on the same page as their paragraphs. We used Kindle for iPhone.

Patrick E. McMahon has for the past twenty three years been teaching both general chemistry and organic chemistry at Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. Prior to that, he was a research scientist for Amoco Chemical Company at the Naperville, Illinois campus. McMahon has also taught at several institutions in the Chicago area, including Elmhurst College, Dominican University and Triton Community College. He is a member of the American Legion and served in the United States Army from 1970-1972. His main area of research interest is organic reaction catalysis. Babler award for outstanding contribution to under-graduate instruction at the University of Illinois, the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence at Benedictine University and first recipient of the Shining Star award given by the student senate for outstanding contribution to students at Benedictine University. Bohdan B. Khomtchouk is a triple-major summa cum laude (B.Sc. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, B.Sc. Mathematics and B.Sc. Physics) and is currently United States Department of Defense NDSEG Fellow at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Claes Wahlestedt, MD, PhD, is Leonard M. I'll admit I was completely ignorant of many of the details surrounding this terrorist attack. I am ashamed of just how ignorant I was. This is not a politically slanted story. It is an illustration of how our government was unprepared for this attack and no one in charge seemed to know what to do. I don't think the President's name or the Secretary of State's name were ever mentioned.I did not realize it was not a military force which fought off the attackers. I also did not realize there were two different facilities attacked that night. I had only listened to small portions of the congressional hearings and it seems to me I had heard more on the news about the reason for the attacks rather than the actual details of the attacks. This story is an incredible story is which must be told and should be taught. It is a frightening realization into just how easily our country can suffer a tragedy. The element of surprise will always give one side the upper hand and unfortunately we were caught off guard.Many people take for granted the freedom's we've been afforded with little to no personal sacrifice ourselves. Many Americans have answered the call to service and many more have died. Those brave men and women only paid part of the price in terms of sacrifice; their friends, family and loved ones paid the other part. American's, some days, may argue and complain they have to wait in line too long, or because their internet is down. It's a shame we, as Americans, have so little appreciation for the sacrifices made on our behalf. It is also a blessing we are able to live life with so few real tribulations.Thank you, to everyone, who has fought for our way of life. Always remember, freedom isn't free.

It is written to simply tell the story of the actions of the people involved in protecting the security and lives of the people that were there.The book is well written and the story is so intense that it is hard to stop reading for any reason. It shows the bravery of the men involved in the security and how they risk their lives to protect the Americans in Benghazi. It is important for people to know that brave men defend this country daily and this story clearly depicts what these men went through during this ordeal.I rated this book at 5 stars and I commend the warriors that were involved. Overall people were killed by terrorists and many more would have certainly died if not for the brave actions of these men. This is a fair recollection of the events as they happened and I recommend that you read this book if you have any interest of the true events that took place.This book is amazing when you consider both sides of the story that was told to the American citizens.

There was no official consulate in Benghazi. They called it the Diplomatic Compound, or Compound, because it unofficially housed American diplomats at various times for varying purposes. It was slated to host Ambassador Chris Stevens on his next Benghazi visit from Tripoli on September 11, 2012.Less than a mile away was the clandestine CIA compound known as The Annex. It housed about 30 CIA analysts and a small force of contract "operators" who provided security. They were known as the Global Response Staff (GRS Operators). The operators would accompany CIA agents as they made there way through the unfriendly confines of the city to assure their safety. They also provided security for the Annex.While the State Department hired local militia to provide most of the heavily armed security in both places, the GRS Operators knew they were the only ones they could trust if and when the crap hit the fan.The five GRS members of the Annex Security Team were all ex-military (Rangers, SEALS, Marines), all knew each other well, were in their late thirties and early forties and most had young families. All had vast Middle East military experience and some knew the language well. Others promised this to be their last "paycheck" before retiring for good; a last chance to make a few dollars to provide some financial security to their families.The Annex GRS team was asked to do an assessment of the security at the Diplomatic Compound. Ambassador Stevens had only a handful of capable, but light armed, Department of State (DS) agents for his personal protection. The Annex Security Team told the DS staff their security arrangement was awful, they should not trust the militia and would be easily overrun if a forceful attack was made. They also promised to act as the QRF (Quick Reaction Force) and come to their assistance in the event of an attack.Both Stevens and the DS agents had long asked the Department of State for more protection for the Ambassador but were routinely turned down. A lightly guarded American Ambassador in a tumultuous and unsettled Arab city was a ripe target and a recipe for disaster, especially on the anniversary of September 11.The worst did come to pass. 13 Hours is the story of how the GRS operators from the Annex did all they could, at huge risk of life and limb, to save the Ambassador, his staff and the DS agents. By the time they got there, the Compound had been overrun and the buildings were ablaze and smoking. The local militia protection had fled. They then returned to the Annex to repel 2 formidable terrorist attacks thereby protecting the CIA staff (and most likely its secrets) within that compound. The third attack killed two of them.These operators were not young gung-ho soldiers acting recklessly in a randomly scattered effort to kill the enemy. They were mature, competent, professional warriors who trusted each other implicitly. They would willingly give their life for each other or for the mission. But not before extracting a terrible price from their enemy. They were the consummate warriors, insisting on providing help to the diplomatic compound when the desperate calls for help started coming in. However, they were delayed by the controversial "stand down" order (if they said they were given one, you can be sure it's the truth) and did not arrive at the Diplomatic Compound in a timely manner.They may not have been able to save Chris Stevens or Sean Smith in any event but they successfully evacuated the rest of the staff and returned to defend the Annex.At the Annex, exposed on the rooftops to provide better firing and observation positions, these GRS Operators made their stand. Dozens if not hundreds of jihadists were cut down attempting to breach the walls. Stocked with plenty of ammo and night vision, they made their attackers pay a humiliating price. But they knew as good as they were, they could not hold out forever.Their pleas for a Specter gunship or low flying F-16s or a company of Marines were ignored and they began to wonder why their country was not helping them. Finally, a convoy of GRS Operators from Tripoli and Libyan Militia fought their way into the Annex and evacuated all personnel. All but ex-SEAL Tyrone "Rone" Woods and his old SEAL friend Glen "Bub" Doherty who came in with the "rescue" convoy and Sean Smith and Ambassador Stevens. This title couldn't be more perfectly fulfilled than by Esposito's text. Just what you would think; it gives the big picture for architecting while being detailed enough to teach.I read this after reading Calderon and Rumerman's Advanced ASP.NET AJAX controls, and wow does the extra quality in this text really show through when looking at two titles in this same area of study.This text really clarifies. It does a great job of separating ASMX from WCF, while still showing the similarities. It does a great job at reviewing JavaScript just as needed to launch into the MS AJAX Library, and it flows nicely in a great personal tone without being unprofessional in the writing.Definitely the first book to grab if you are interested in how AJAX has come to be a force in the world of the web (even, perhaps, if you are not specifically ASP.NET-centric), and more importantly, what to do about that force.It is one of those books where you think, "Without this information/knowledge I was something of a fool and just didn't know it Good thing I was at least smart enough to get and read it!"I may update this posting when I have completed the text, but I have read in it significantly, and it just keeps getting better.

Dino is a well respected author and developer. I have read at least five of his books. They range from old school ADO.NET to architecting web applications for the enterprise (highly recommend that read). This book is well written and organized. The content is heavy on the front end as the title suggests. You will explore the kludgy innards of JavaScript. jQuery and many Ajax approaches are also considered. In addition, Dino puts his own personal spin on patterns and processes.The book starts very well with a background in the Ajax surge. It then jumps into the client side, patterns, binding to the client and ends with RIA's. Overall this is solid and I recommend the read if not quick skimming after the fifth chapter.However, .NET 4.0 is right around the corner. The client side bindings, more jQuery integration and updated Microsoft Ajax JavaScript libraries will change a lot of how this book approaches Ajax. Therefore, its an interim book for those not looking to move to 4.0 and live in at least the 3.5 world for the foreseeable future.It delves into Silverlight a bit and. But has no mention of the ground swell of popularity that is ASP.NET MVC and its fairly elegant Ajax approach. One of the highlights is Dino's insight into the pros and cons of partial rendering vs. full scale asynchronous approaches. I have been on an enterprise application where we had to implement the former. He nailed the reasons why.Read this book if you want a good background in current technologies that are changing at the speed of light. It won't be a gold source for later pick up and review though.

If you have nothing to do, still don't read this book. Really doesn't tell you anything about how to DO AJAX, just another copy paste from other materials into this book. You could learn more from the internet, and your neighbor then reading this book.

I am a Senior .NET Developer for SSN and I think this book is total ****! I am sorry, some ideas from it are cool, but I buy books to see useful examples of all the why's and how to's, and if you are like me, you will find this book useless. I read the book in a weekend and I didn't learn anything worthwhile.

'Microsoft ASP.NET and AJAX: Architecting Web Applications' is a good book for the current .NET AJAX developer looking to get their feet wet and ready to swim. The content is written well, and the author knows his stuff, but whoever made the decision to go with such a blah design swung and missed on this one. AJAX has been one of the 'hot' terms in computers for a half decade now, and the market has lots of material on the subject. People hear 'AJAX' and not only do they expect to get the steak, they want some sizzle to go along with it. This book provides no sizzle. Lack of color and design sex appeal hurt the overall product. Many people will say "who cares what it looks like" but for this type of subject matter, I don't want the layout that comes with an Assembly or C book, I want that web design PIZAZZ and it's just not there.Pick this up if you are an AJAX developer who is looking to grow your skillset. If you are just a casual developer looking for AJAX references in the store, no doubt you might walk right by this title. Good enough, but it could be better.**** RECOMMENDED

If you are looking for a AJAX how-to book then this is not the book for you. You have to go through a lot of text to find the development material. Its all theory. Not a single program in its entirety but small functions in lot of text. This book detail about the history, need and architecture. Not for people looking for code samples.

Most of the Ajax and JavaScript books focus on implementation and that's a good thing. However those books do not describe how Ajax fits within an architecture of an application. This books captures it succinctly. I also recommend author's other book "Microsoft .NET: Architecting Applications for the Enterprise"
