I purchased this for my 7 year old who is in second grade (homeschool). He really loves the workbook and wants to do all the activities for the week in one sitting. The words are not too hard. I can easily see him finishing and moving on to the third grade level before finishing second grade.Each week has a spelling tip/rule which the words fall under. For those who would like to know. . . the words in the first lesson are fox, cut hill, wind, put, all moon, saw, tell, new (which seem very easy for 2nd grade). Week thirty-five's words are hole, whole, no, know, not, knot, ate eight, to, too, two, right, write, one, won. I think our local public schools did these type of words in 1st grade. My son did not have "formal" spelling last year so I don't mind starting him off with easier words. I've found it is better to start easy and build confidence than to ruin a child's self-esteem with something too hard. I do believe; however, that if your child has already had formal spelling it would be easy to move on to level C and skip level B.I have tried many spelling programs over the years (with my oldest son) and my children rate this one as the best. It has interesting activities such as crossword puzzles, find the missing letters, proofreading, etc. My favorite part is that each week the child has a short story to read that uses all of the week's spelling words. The stories are usually educational too! If your child enjoys short activities to reinforce what he/she is learning, I believe you will find this program a perfect fit.

My [..] daughter who is weak in spelling did not enjoy this book. We used the book as extra spelling practice. Because of her reluctance, it took 2-3 times as long to complete the work. It was a challenge to make it thru the entire book. That said, it was effective and her spelling did improve as a result of using this book. The word lists were arranged by phonics which gave her a clue as to how to spell the words, esp. those with different vowel blends for the long vowel sounds. I felt the last page of each unit where you write your own sentence was a little advanced and disjoint from the rest of the exercises. While writing isn't her best subject either, I felt that asking her to spell words not just introduced to make sentences while trying to learn how to spell words was a bit much.Since spelling isn't her best subject, I got several different books for her to practice with. Evan-Moor's Building Spelling Skills is excellent and quite effective. She has also enjoyed School Special Publishing Master Skills Series Spelling and Writing. In the Master Skills book the last page of each unit was a fun activity like a cross-word puzzle, word-find or free-form sentence. For some reason, she doesn't balk about doing these sentences like she did with the Spelling Workout.

I use these for my homeschooled kids. Letter corresponds to grade. Love that they start showing the lists in cursive as well as script. Then in the upper grades it's mostly cursive. Whether or not a child can Write cursvie, this will at least get them more used to Reading cursive. A little section at the end encourages the student to write a few sentences in response to a question. A plus in my book.

We did every level of Spelling Workout for two kids for homeschool. The result is I have two kids who can spell better than I can. This book is no frills, no nonsense. Words are grouped in logical sets of similar words, not like the bizarre and seemingly random "word lists" that my kids' friends would drag home from public school. Each chapter is arranged in a way that made it really easy for me to keep track of where we were to finish the book by the end of our "school" year, and also to divide the lesson up through the week. We usually did it in three chunks, Monday, Wednesday, Friday.With black and white newsprint like pages and simple illustrations, it's not the prettiest spelling book ever, but it gets the job done.

This curriculum works well for us. Not everyone may be looking for the same things; but, we like:-The variety exercises that come with each spelling list-The simplicity of instruction-The organization of spelling 'rules' that each list is based on.Dislikes:-Each spelling list could use some more explanation of the spelling 'rules' for each list (ex: long vowel sound when word ends with 'e')-Writing exercise provides to small a space (we just use a separate sheet of paper)Note: There is a fair amount of writing, if your child struggles with handwriting you may want to adapt some of the exercises.

I teach grades 1-4 and use this curriculum. The kids are able to work independently which is very helpful in a multigrade classroom. I wish there was a placement test as I had 3 students this year begin in their grade level and then end up needing to go up a grade or two in these books. I make a photo copy of the take home word list, onto card stock and then cut out each list and laminate them for the kids. These lists are printed and in alphabetical order. This helps the students that have a harder time reading the cursive writing in the workbooks. I like this curriculum and will continue to use it for my classroom. It goes through grade 8, which allows me to use higher books for my advanced spellers.

This Series is based on the "memorize the spelling words for the test on Friday" rather than know the "rules so you can always figure it out". I don't really like it since the child often (I know I did) forgets the words a month later. Poor process in my opinion.

We homeschool and we've relied on Spelling Workout for the last couple of years. We have tried other spelling books but this is the easiest and overall the best. We go through them fairly quickly. 1 lesson per day versus per week which is how some other's have used it.

Beautiful Bitch gives readers a look back at what happened directly after book one and a glimpse at how Chloe and Bennett are doing about a year later. As to be expected Chloe and Bennett are married to their work, yet still committed to each other.One of the things I really like about Bennett is how sweet he is to Chloe. Before I started this series, I was sort of expecting this domineering, a**hole boss. He was an a**hole (sometimes) but he also had a soft side. There was one moment that was so freaking cute that it made me grin from ear to ear. Chloe and Bennett have a code word they use whenever there is a work emergency. Bennett misses her so much so he uses the code word just to get her to his office so he could see her. How adorable is that, huh?The conflict in this book was the fact that they're both so busy getting the New York location of Ryan Media Group ready to launch as well as manage their own accounts. I found myself skimming through most of this novella just because not much was happening.Anyway, I thought this novella was okay. I still find the whole panty-ripping thing to be completely ridiculous. I think one of two panty-ripping incidents would have been fine by me, but seriously, Bennett, every time...really? It's not necessary. I guarantee you, dude, you could get to Pleasuretown without ruining Chloe's knickers every.single.time.2.5 stars

But I am here to say it was all worth it. The hardened biker and the impeccable attorney were simply meant to be and with a little soul by the name of Nash (who in the most subtle of ways steals the show more than once) by their sides, they are unstoppable.Order together with Havoc is a duet that is full of emotion that guides a journey that will tug at your heartstrings. I loved every word and look forward to more from this crew of characters that only Kindle Alexander can create.5 huge stars!

Order, what can I say? Havoc was freaking amazing but the dynamic duo was just getting started. Order is everything I expected and so much more! Alec and Key have grown closer. Alec knows this man is it for him and he will do everything in his power to keep him. Key doesn't see how it can ever work with them coming from different worlds. Alec starts getting his ducks in a row. He has a vision of how its supposed to be between them and he will make it happen at all costs. Key has never felt love and he falls hard for the man who wants to be his everything. Can Key keep Alec safe if the Club finds out about him? This is an amazing story of how to people from totally different worlds can form an unbreakable bond. I Loved Loved Loved this book. FIVE GIANT STARS!!!!

Keyes won’t admit he loves Alec. He can’t. He shouldn’t even be breathing the same air as the man that has stolen his heart. His life is crap served on burnt toast. Alec’s father is an elite politician. Key’s father is trash. He owes the motorcycle club his allegiance. Because of that he has to leave the man who has become is everything. To keep him safe. To keep him untainted.His only option is to turn around and go back. He can’t say he loves him out loud. But he can certainty show him with his body. Alec gives him value, something he’s never got from anyone. He gives him hope and oddly enough security.Wow.... this was just the first couple of chapters. No spoilers, the reader needs to experience the ups and downs for themselves. Well defined characters, some good, some not so good. May one of them not Rest In Peace! This authors work can be hit or miss for me. This was definitely a hit. A hot, hot hit.

I was even more into this book than the first one. It's hot, it's sweet and it has bikers and puppies! How can you go wrong with that!Key and Alec are now in an established relationship and neither of them are willing to give the other one up despite Keys club, their different lives or Alecs job.You just can't help falling in love with this big bad biker with a heart of gold and his mister who would do anything to keep him safe.I love that in the middle of everything bad going on with Keys father,the club business and Alecs case they have their own world. And Keys with their little puppy Nash is just heart melting.I'm really intrigued by the revelation of Keys best friend Dev and I really hope that we get to see more interaction between Dev and Alecs friend Blaine.

Alec and Keyes are the absolute sweetest couple. Their love and care for each other leaps off the pages and encompasses you totally into their world. To watch how Alec helps Keyes to open up and at the same time Keyes is helping Alec to own his happiness is amazing. This story will take you on the journey with them and the trip is well worth it. Highly recommend anything Kindle Alexander writes but this one is beyond AH-MAZ-ZING!

Another amazing book from Kindle Alexander. This is the final book in the Tattoos and Ties duet. Keyes and Alec have to overcome so major hurdles but find their HEA. Nash steals every scene he is in. I just devoured this book. Now I have to wait again for more new KA. Great job ladies.

What is not to love!! The love between Alec and Keyes is that of magic. The way they overcome everything that threatened to come between them. Both wanting to protect the other.I cannot wait to read the next book. No mater the topic, this author knows how to hold your attention and takes you through a range of emotions.

I bought this book partly because it had so many positive reviews. I was pretty shocked when I got it because the book has been almost useless for me. Virtually none of the designs in this book are historically accurate or reference actual manuscripts, they seem to be 'inspired' by history instead. The aesthetic of almost every single illumination is the same - floral motifs with pastel colors that look like cheap designs off thrift store China plates. There isn't one page in this book that shows historical examples or attempts to recreate them, most of the designs look like 1800's Neoclassical interpretations of illumination. A lot of the designs are heavily inspired by French Books of Hours from the 15th century but none of the designs in the book are as delicate or impressive as the real deal. If you're looking for historical accuracy or a detailed guide for how to create illumination then you should definitely skip this book.

Although [the price] seems hefty for a paperback book, you won't think that after seeing it. It is filled with color photos and helpful diagrams of the incredibly beautiful, complete with step-by-step directions to almost ensure success. Best of all, it is helpful for many other arts as well, since the information about coloring, centering, decorating letters, composing a monogram, etc. can be applied just as well to numerous other arts. I really love this book; it is unbelievably gorgeous and inspiring, with such great directions that even I should be able to do this successfully. Even if you're not a calligrapher, this will greatly help you should you decide to give it a try -- and will also help even if you use computer fonts, just want to frame and display treasured quotes or invitations, etc. I have nothing to do with the author, publisher, or anyone involved with this book ... I just took a chance and ordered it, and am thrilled beyond words with it. HIGHEST possible recommendation.

I don't know how to do calligraphy and I don't think you need to with this book. This book spends a lot of time on the illumination of the the letters and the borders. I do a lot of drawing and always wanted something a little different to use in my backgrounds and/or titles and this book really gave me a great place to find ideas and inspiration. If you do calligraphy, this is a great and I think must have book. If you don't you can still get a great deal out of it and think it really belongs in any artists library.

I bought this as a gift for a illumination craft person and she adores the book. Provides inspiration into the various letters used in manuscript illumination. Excellent resource for the reference library.

I am a calligrapher and one of the things I have always wanted to do was to use illumination. I am presently working on a project and I believe by using illumination lettering would add the topping to the project. In the book the colors are vivid, the "how to" is really easy to understand, thus adding to the endless possibilites. My drawing is not so top notched :(, but I can draw the simple flowers, banners and vines that are shown in the book,and with that type of help, it would take my projects to an even higher level. Thank you Amazon for making this possible!!!

This book is very limited in scope and style. There are many good examples of drawing (nearly identical) vines with little flowers but almost nothing else besides examples of what to do with your vines and flowers. I really expected more from this book due to the good reviews it received.

A beautiful book, with lots of lovely examples of illuminated letters. The examples are inspiring, the instruction thoughtful and encouraging.

These learned and insightful papers provide us with a non-fundamentalist way to apply the resources of Jewish law and ethics to modern day dilemmas.The book states that "In the Jewish tradition, the central means of addressing these concerns is through halakhah, or Jewish law. While the insights of halakhah are central to the lives of many Jews, these perspectives have also been found valuable by persons of other religious traditions and secular outlooks. This volume presents papers on biomedical ethics that integrate the resources of millennia with the most recent developments in medicine and ethical thought. The papers include some of the most thoughtful and important works in Jewish medical ethics on such issues as treatment decisions near the end of life, abortion, and reproductive technologies."The papers are presented in four general divisions, most of which are divided into a number of topical sections. Each section begins with an introduction summarizing the documents and highlighting points of special interest, including conclusions of practical application. The first division is "Responsibilities in the Creation of Life," with sections discussing artificial insemination, in vitro fertilization, and surrogate motherhood. The second division, "Responsibilities for Fetal Life," contains papers on abortion. The longest division is called "Responsibilities at the End of Life," and its sections present extensive discussions of medical care at the end of life, shorter works reflecting on and developing these basic positions, and consideration of physician-assisted suicide and euthanasia. The final division, "Responsibilities for the Health Needs of Others," addresses organ transplantation and autopsy, and new challenges involving genetic engineering, smoking, and responsibilities for providing health care.
